I Know
Madeline: If a monster comes, I'm gonna just squish it.
Mommy: Madeline, there are no monsters.
Madeline: Yeah, but if one comes, I'm gonna squish it.
Mommy: Ok.
Madeline: Maybe daddy is washing the dishes.
Mommy: I already did the dishes.
Madeline: Yeah, but maybe daddy is washing the dishes for you.
Mommy: Yes, but I already did the dishes, so there aren't any dishes to wash.
Madeline: I know.
This was the conversation right before Madeline fell asleep tonight. The "I know"s are said with the "know" going up in pitch at the end. Very all knowingly like. The problem? This isn't only typical of NIGHT conversations. A lot of our conversations follow this very routine, which can make for some frustrating (albeit, cute) moments.
